Broad on England captaincy split: 'We'll freshen it up and prove three's not a crowd'

Broad on England captaincy split: 'We'll freshen it up and prove three's not a crowd'
Stuart Broad excited about captaincy
Stuart Broad has said that getting the captaincy of the England Twenty20 squad is a huge honour.

"It has not even been five years since I made my England debut, so to be handed the captaincy of the Twenty20 side at the age of 24 is a huge honour."

He said that he was looking forward to the new assignment and challenge with a real sense of excitement

In an article for the Daily Mail, Broad said: "I'm desperate to hit the ground running and that first Twenty20 game against Sri Lanka in Bristol on June 25 can't come quickly enough."

He added: "I may not have much captaincy experience under my belt but I can honestly say I've always tried to think like a leader whenever I'm out in the middle."

"The great thing is I don't feel like I'll be doing this job alone - just as I intend to support Cooky to the hilt in my role as 50-over vice-captain," he said.

"I genuinely believe there is no danger of the captains treading on each other's toes. In fact, with the amount of cricket we play, the prospect of approaching each new series with a fresh captain is an exciting one," he said.
